Gav has come through surgery well! We are breathing a huge, fierce sigh of relief and hoping to leave hospital tomorrow or the next day.
The shunt was blocked. That is what we had hoped to find. It seems everything went as well as we could have hoped. Dr. Dirks and the team were able to fix the blockage with minimal difficulty and Gav was in the OR for just long enough for me to work myself into a nervous state. The relief and joy I felt on seeing the doctor’s smile and hear the words “everything went well” cannot be described.
Already the bulgy area on Bean’s head has sunken back in, so the surgery has had the desired effect. Due to the rapid change in pressure, Gav doesn’t feel the best, and has been very hungry and dehydrated from not eating all day. We are not sure if he is just nauseated from the anesthesia or pressure change but he threw up all the water he drank post-op. We are working on a little snack and hoping it stays down.
Thanks for all the love, light and support. We needed it today. Gav and Mama are having a hospital sleepover tonight and hope to go tomorrow.
Sorry for any errors am writing on Craig’s phone. Not a practiced hand with smartphones.
